Because of its resemblance to wood flooring, laminate has been a major trend over the last couple of years. Although it physically looks like hardwood, laminate flooring has different properties and needs to be taken care of differently as well.

The major difference is that laminate flooring is more susceptible to water. Although a small spill isn’t likely to cause damage if it is cleaned up quickly, any major spillage that seeps in between the seams can cause lasting damage. It is important to minimize water spills by utilizing placemats under pet water bowls, bathroom rugs by the shower, and mats in the kitchen by the sink. If a spill does occur, just promptly clean it using a cloth, sponge or dry mop.

When cleaning laminate flooring, it is best to use a damp mop. You want to make sure that your mop is not completely wet, because too much water can eventually trap too much moisture in your laminate over time. You can also use certain types of oils or soaps that are specially designed for laminate flooring. We suggest Bona Professional Cleaner that can be used on Stone, Tile and Laminate floors to preserve your flooring and keep it clean. .
